The Example of John Calvin
John Calvin, following the Apostle Paul, in the days of the reformation, said that though he disagreed with the Lutherans about some matters of some significance and importance, matters that he felt were really worth talking about at length, he felt Lutherans were wrong about allowing images to remain in some of their churches and church services; he thought they were wrong about the presence of the body of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Lord's Supper; he thought they were wrong to continue certain features of Roman Mass in Reformation worship.
But even in regard to things as significant as that, Calvin did not feel that those were reasons for him to break fellowship with the Lutherans who were sharing the Reformation with those in the reformed world.
